After over 40 years of martial art experience, Sifu Akrish has developed a close-quarter combat system based on advanced scientific concepts for ages 16 and above. Beginners Welcome!

Realistic Combat Strategies Teach YOU Practical & Effective Self-Defense Skills.

Contact & Flow Drills Will Apply YOUR Knowledge From The Start.

Begin With Weapon Training To Accelerate YOUR Speed, Strength & Endurance. Self-Defense Training Will Increase YOUR Confidence, Health & Concentration With Any Circumstance.

The concepts taught within the Akrish Academy of Self-Defense can be understood and applied even after a few lessons. Yet...it is important for to emphasize that we believe for any person to develop effective self-defense skills time, dedication and a proper curriculum must be adhered to. A false sense of confidence must not be created through ranking or improper training.

"Only through the scientific breakdown of distance, timing and angles of attack can one begin to understand and gain skill in close quarter-combat. It takes practice to be precise, powerful and masterful in distance closing under stressful situations. It must become second nature." -Sifu David Akrish

Washington Wind Symphony presents: Hill Songs
Kirkland Performance Center
Join us as the Washington Wind Symphony presents: Hill Songs! We'll take a look at the origins of music for this expressive ensemble as well as honor the future with the following selections:

Zion - Dan Welcher
Five Folk Songs for Soprano - Bernard Gilmore
Sheila Houlahan, soloist
Hill Song No. 2 - Percy Grainger
Ecstatic Waters - Steven Bryant

Percy Grainger's unique setting of Hill Song No. 2 was begun in 1901 and completed in 1907. Steven Bryant's epic Ecstatic Waters is a wonderfully listenable and expressive work written in 2008 which seamlessly incorporates electronic sounds. Dan Welcher's Zion is a beautiful homage to Zion National Park, and Gilmore's Five Folk Songs will feature Bellevue's own Sheila Houlahan!

We hope to see you there!

Unfailing Love Dance Production
Kirkland Performance Center
"Unfailing Love" is a dance production that shows the restoration process that victims of human trafficking go through once they have been rescued from their captivity. It is a challenging time in their lives as they experience nightmares, fear, anxiety and insecurity about their future including having normal relationships and marriage. But God is able to redeem and restore any person and situation no matter how impossible it may seem. He invites people to lay down their lives and co-labor with Him against injustice so that He can bring about the fullness of restoration in a person's life.

ACRS' 22nd Annual Walk for Rice
Seward Park
Hunger is something we all experience. But the hunger ACRS fights is different.

Government agencies call it "food insecurity." We describe it as a chronic, gnawing feeling mixed with the empty uncertainty of not knowing where you or your family will find the next meal.

That's the hunger we work to end. And it's why we invite you to join us on June 30, 2012, for ACRS' 22nd Annual Walk for Rice! Seward Park and its 2.4-mile Lake Washington shoreline will once again play host to our big fund-raiser.

Every year, thanks to the dedication (and athletic shoes) of more than a thousand walkers, Asian Counseling and Referral Service feeds thousands of hungry King County residents. We run the second busiest food bank in the greater Seattle area while operating out of one of the smallest facilities.

Last year, supporters united to raise more than $170,000. With new incentive prizes and social events this year, we’re aiming even higher.

So please help out and visit www.walkforice.org now to register yourself or join/create a team for the 22nd Annual Walk for Rice!

Because Every Grain Counts.
