Seattle Archdiocese paying $1.2M to settle abuse case
KIMA - The Seattle Archdiocese has agreed to pay $1.2 million to settle a lawsuit brought by a woman who said she was molested by a priest in the 1960s and '70s. Jeri Hubbard, a 63-year-old from Sedro-Woolley, sued in Whatcom County Superior Court in 2012, alleging she was abused by former priest Michael Cody, who was pastor of St. Charles Parish in Burlington and Assumption Parish in Bellingham. Surrendered German shepherd pup is 'scared out of her mind'

Driscoll's Berry Boycott and Labor Dispute Intensifies
Indybay.org - Farmworkers at Sakuma Brothers Berry Farm in Burlington, Washington have been locked in a years-long struggle for a fair contract and dignified working conditions. Today, leading fair trade advocacy organization Fair World Project organized and sent a letter signed by nearly 10,000 consumers to Driscoll's, the biggest buyer of Sakuma Brothers berries, asking it to suspend purchases from the farm until this dispute is resolved, and pledging to not purchase any berries under the Driscoll's brand until that time.
