Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority announces Board of Directors
The SeaTac Blog - The Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority , announced its Board of Directors for the newly created public corporation and separate legal entity on Tuesday, Jan. 27. This group will manage increased funding and tourism promotion activities for the cities of SeaTac, Des Moines and Tukwila. City releases memo on Freedom of Speech; won't stop anti-abortion protestor

Sound Transit receives $1.3 billion loan that could benefit Federal Way projects
Federal Way Mirror - Federal Way projects could benefit from Sound Transit's action last Friday to execute a $1.3 billion low-interest federal loan under the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act that will increase the financial capacity of the agency by $200-$300 million. That additional money will lead to the Sound Transit board of directors' consideration to restore suspended projects, including possibly extending light rail from Kent-Des Moines to South 272nd Street in Federal Way as well as improvements for accessing Kent Station, where people board the Sounder trains. Is anyone else bothered by the man who stands on the street in front of the former QFC with the graphic photos of aborted fetuses? He seems to prefer standing on this major Des Moines street anywhere from 2-2:30 pm to 5pm to maximize the number of people who are forced to see his pictures. On one particular day just after 2:30 pm he was standing in his usual spot; in front of me stopped for the traffic light, were two Highline School District school buses - one from Mt Rainer High School and one special needs bus with only a few riders. Washington Man Sentenced to More Than Four Years in Prison in a...
Holtville Tribune - Joseph Nkunzi, 31, of Des Moines, Washington, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Kimberly J. Mueller to four years and three months in prison for his involvement in a telemarketing scheme that defrauded senior citizens of hundreds of thousands of dollars, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced. According to court documents, beginning in 2011, Nkunzi and others operated a scheme that involved calling senior citizens and telling them they had won a prize. Read more...
