95 arrests as Seattle cops target downtown 'open air drug market'
KOMO News - Nearly 100 suspected drug dealers and thieves have been arrested following a four-month law enforcement investigation focusing on the area around 3rd Avenue and Pine Street in downtown Seattle, city officials said Thursday. Seattle police said the investigation and 95 arrests are aimed at shutting down the "open air drug market and street corner swap meet" that has flourished literally in the heart of Seattle's retail and tourist district. 16-story hotel to join high-rise under construction in downtown Seattle

Seattle City Council: So what does an 'unsafe' viaduct look like?
Seattle Post-Intelligencer - Amid contradictory messages about the safety of the Alaskan Way Viaduct, Seattle city councilmembers asked Monday: What does an unsafe viaduct look like? Engineers and officials from the city and state departments of transportation insist repeatedly that the aging downtown Seattle bridge is safe for public passage, but in the same breath concede that it needs to be replaced urgently. Meanwhile, Seattle Tunnel Partners officials say they can't pin down a completion date yet for the viaduct replacement tunnel, the construction of which has been halted since December 2013, when the tunnel-digging machine dead-ended underground early into the process.
