Officials, candidates butt heads over how to pay for future road projects
Sammamish Review - As election season heats up, so does the question of whether or not Sammamish would need to take out capital improvement bonds to complete the promised rehabilitation of roads in the Klahanie annexation area. An article in the city's August newsletter seems to suggest that bonds are not needed to pay for the reconstruction of Issaquah-Pine Lake and Issaquah-Fall City roads. Read more...

Record number of bird species tallied during Christmas Bird Count
Sammamish Review - Members of the Eastside Audubon chapter counted a record 97 species of birds during their annual Christmas Bird Count on Dec. 20. This was the 31st year for the count that takes place in Issaquah, Preston, Fall City, the Snoqualmie Valley, Redmond, on the Sammamish Plateau and along the east and west sides of Lake Sammamish. Four new species were added to the all-time list of birds seen, including a Golden Eagle, Eurasian-collard doves, a turkey vulture and a Gyrfalcon. Read more...
