$980,514 annual grant for Suquamish Tribe's Head Start early child education program
North Kitsap Herald - The federal Administration for Children and Families has awarded a $980,514 grant to the Head Start early child education program operated by the Suquamish Tribe. Suquamish Head Start will receive $980,514 a year for five years. The Administration for Children and Families is a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Read more...

No injuries in Kingston brush fire
North Kitsap Herald - The fire started at a home off of NE Highway 104 near the Burkes Lane intersection July 25. According to a press release from North Kitsap Fire & Rescue, about 1,000 square feet of grass was burned, trees were scored and a season's worth of firewood was consumed in the brush fire, which is thought to have been started from coals dumped from a smoker. Two-Vehicle Injury Collision On I-69
Kentucky State Police - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on Interstate 69, between the 105 and 106 mile-marker, on Wednesday, July 22, at 6:50 a.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that Christine Duplissey, 48, Poulsbo, WA, was operating a 2015 Nissan Sentra. Ms. Duplissey was on the ramp from the Pennyrile Parkway, southbound, onto I-69, southbound. Read more...
