The Columbian - Pierce County firefighters say a blaze that spread to about 20 abandoned mobile homes in the Tacoma suburb of Spanaway prompted the closure of a nearby highway for several hours. The News Tribune reports that Central Pierce Fire & Rescue spokesman Ed Hrivnak says the wind and the close proximity of the mobile homes helped the fire to spread Monday afternoon. Read more...

KXLY-TV Spokane - A Roy, Washington, man has been charged with vehicular homicide for a fiery crash near Spanaway that left one man dead. Man, 31, arrested after fatal fiery crash south of Tacoma
KHQ-TV Spokane - The Washington State Patrol says a Tacoma man has died in a fiery crash near Spanaway and a driver who ran from the scene has been arrested. Driver arrested after fatal high-speed crash in Spanaway
KOMO News - One victim has died, and a suspected drunk driver is in jail after a high-speed, rollover crash on SR-507, the Washington State Patrol said. Troopers say shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday the driver of a Ford F350 truck was speeding in the southbound lanes when he crossed the center line, crashing into a Toyota 4Runner near milepost 42.
