Bonney Lake/Sumner Courier-Herald - The City of Bonney Lake received an application for a shoreline substantial development permit (SSDP) exemption and a State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Environmental Review for the replacement of an existing residential bulkhead within the City of Bonney Lake. Pierce County to extend animal services to City of Fife

The City of Fife has entered into an interlocal agreement with Pierce County for services such as barking dogs, strays, pet licensing, and animal complaints. Bonney Lake/Sumner Courier-Herald - If dog is your co-pilot, you have a "baby on board," or you're proud of your alma mater, chances are you're among the one in four Northwest drivers who, according to the latest PEMCO poll, have an appetite for adhering personal proclamations to the cars they drive. According to the PEMCO Insurance Northwest Poll, 25 percent of drivers in Washington and Oregon say they adorn their vehicles with bumper stickers or car magnets. And of those, men and women under 55 are almost twice as likely as their older counterparts to have bumper stickers (30 percent vs. 16 percent). Read more...

Razor clam dig starts March 2 | Department of Fish and Wildlife
Bonney Lake/Sumner Courier-Herald - Clam diggers can return to two coastal beaches Monday (March 2) through Thursday (March 5) to dig razor clams during a month packed with potential digging opportunities. Smartphone app aims to help people quit tobacco | Department of Health
Bonney Lake/Sumner Courier-Herald - The state Department of Health is offering a smartphone app to help Washingtonians kick their tobacco habits, and the first 1,900 app downloads are free. SmartQuit follows a unique program created at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center to help people become tobacco-free. A study conducted by the Seattle cancer research center found that SmartQuit users were two-to-three times more likely to kick their nicotine addiction than those who tried to quit on their own. Hunters have until March 31 to apply for multiple-season permits | Department of Fish and Wildlife
Bonney Lake/Sumner Courier-Herald - Deer and elk hunters have until March 31 to enter their name in a drawing for a 2015 multiple-season permit, which can greatly increase their opportunities for success in the field. In mid-April, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) will randomly draw names for 8,500 multiple-season deer permits and 1,000 multiple-season elk permits. Read more...
