Body of missing 16-year-old found in Chehalis River
KOMO TV - Rescue and dive teams have found the body of a 16-year-old boy missing in the Chehalis River near Rochester.Thurston County deputies say the boy jumped into the river from a bridge on Independence Road around 5 p.m. on Tuesday.Lt. Greg Elwin said the teen had moved here from California in the last few months with his mother and younger brother and was a student at Rochester High School.Elwin said the teen was trying to cross the river near the bridge and went under and did not come back up. Community forum to focus on middle school options
KOMO TV - Tumwater school officials are tackling the question of whether sixth-graders should continue to be part of the elementary schools or be enrolled in the district's middle school system.Another community forum will take place on Tuesday, May 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the District Office.An advisory board of parents and educators has already voiced support for the 6th through 8th grade middle school option.The earliest it could be implemented is the the fall of 2015.Tuesday's meeting will specifically address concerns about potential facilities costs and design during a similar forum in April Read more...
