Chambers Bay prepares to host U.S. Open golf tournament
Seattle Times - UNIVERSITY PLACE Behind the 18th green at Chambers Bay, with the U.S. Open flag in the hole and yellow stakes indicating where 5,500 bleacher seats will be, you could almost envision what it will be like on June 18, when the U.S. Open begins here. Charges: Drunk driver crashes truck with young children inside
KOMO News - A 31-year-old man with a history of drunk driving was arrested Saturday after crashing his pickup truck with his two young children inside then threatening to kill a responding deputy, according to charges filed in Pierce County Superior Court. According to the charging documents, a tow-truck driver was at a University Place 7-Eleven around 10:30 p.m. when someone told him there was a white pickup truck stuck on the landscaping outside an attorney's office in the 5300 block of South Orchard Street. Charges: Robber finds victim using Facebook, really helps police out
KOMO News - For anyone who thinks it's just old people who don't understand the Internet and social media, a young robber reportedly used his personal Facebook account to target a victim, which really made things easy for the University Place Police Department. According to charges filed Friday in Pierce County Superior Court, the victim listed his phone for sale on a Facebook-related site and exchanged messages with 18-year-old Paul Kirkwood agreeing on a price and setting up a meeting place. Washington Times - A Los Angeles developer unveiled drawings Tuesday for a resort at Chambers Bay in University Place that would be big and dramatic with a five-story hotel and sweeping views of Chambers Bay Golf Course and a proposed second course. Charges: Man opens fire on strangers at gas station, on I-5
KOMO News - A 29-year-old man said he was "having a bad month" when he tried to carjack a University Place resident at gunpoint before shooting at strangers on I-5 near DuPont and at a gas station in Tacoma last Saturday, according to charges filed in Pierce County Superior Court.
