Empty Bowls - Fill the Need

On Sunday, May 19th, 2013 North Helpline Emergency Services and Food Bank will be hosting our 4th Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser. Local restaurants will serve delicious soup, salad, bread, and dessert in uniquely crafted bowls. Local musicians will also provide lively entertainment. A hallmark of this event that our supporters look forward to each year is the silent auction.
Last year's Empty Bowls event we met our fundraising goal, which enabled us to help keep our neighbors' families fed and housed who were in need. This year our goal is to build on last years success to help us meet the rapidly growing need in our community.

Northwest Boychoir Announces Open Auditions for New Members
University Heights Center
The Northwest Boychoir will hold open auditions for new members on Saturday, June 1, 2013 for fall enrollment at its offices at the University Heights Community Center in Seattle's University District. Boys currently in Kindergarten-Third grades who will be between the ages of 6 - 9 in September are eligible to audition. No previous music or vocal training is necessary. Auditions are by appointment.
Audition appointments are scheduled through the Northwest Choirs office by calling (206) 524-3234. Auditions are private and low-key, designed to make those auditioning feel comfortable and relaxed. Auditions are about 15 minutes long, and parents are strongly encouraged to be present.
Founded in 1974, the Northwest Boychoir enrolls about 150 young singers annually in five levels of training choirs. Members represent 115 public and private schools in the greater Seattle area. Northwest Boychoir music staff members are trained musicians and music educators. Members enjoy the benefit of small classes and focused instruction.
Recognized as one of the nations premier children's choral programs, the Northwest Boychoir serves as the official singing ambassadors of Washington State as recognized by five consecutive governors. The Northwest Boychoir also maintains a long-standing professional relationship with the Seattle Symphony - affording members the opportunity to perform regularly with the regions world-class symphony orchestra.

Walk Like MADD 2013

Walk Like MADD is Mothers Against Drunk Driving's annual nonprofit walk/ run event. The course is 5k. There will be opening ceremonies from 9:00-9:30, and you can register starting at 8:00 the day of the race. Runner registration is $30; Adult walker registration is $20; Youth walker registration is $15 and pet registration is $10. People registering by June 1st will receive a $5 discount. Come help end drunk driving and support the victims of this violent crime.
